Biometrics

Biometrics is emerging as a vital component in data and application security systems. Access Softek has worked with portable fingerprint recognition technology to map scans in the field to libraries of reference data in order to validate identities and support security processes. We worked with the Mobile Solutions Division of NEC to build a portable fingerprint recognition application for airport, medical and other national security applications. We successfully navigated the two main technical concerns in actual operation; false positives, and false negatives. We worked closely with NEC’s highly-regarded AFIS system to adjust the user interface appropriately for the various uses. We were able to take their AFIS code and, using their proprietary APIs, create a complete, wireless, handheld, client-server recognition system. Our expertise and proven approach can be used to complete any new project requiring biometric integration.
