Valley CU Rolls Out Mobile Banking

SAN JOSE , CA (August 21, 2007) – Valley Credit Union’s bringing cutting edge convenience to its members in the form of mobile banking. The service was made available mid-August and will allow members to perform financial transactions on the go using their cell phones and mobile devices.

Valley CU is among the Mobile Banking frontrunners, which include major banks like Wachovia, Citibank and Bank of America. The credit union, known for offering unbeatable rates and service, can now boast itself as a leader in banking technology.

“Our goal is to increase members’ ability to bank around their own schedule. With mobile banking they can take care of things the moment they remember instead of waiting until they get to the credit union or to a PC,” notes Ryan Barringer, Assistant Vice President of Marketing at Valley Credit Union. “We see it as a way to not only offer convenience but peace of mind as well.”

Valley CU’s mobile banking, Valley Mobile, is a downloadable program that resides directly on the user’s cell phone or mobile device. It will offer 24/7 access, eliminating the need for a browser or WAP connectivity. With Valley Mobile, members will be able to view all their accounts simultaneously, transfer funds between accounts, track assets through graphic reports, and receive alerts and important updates through a secure and trusted e-mail feature. Online bill pay will be available in the second phase of the rollout.

Developed by Access Softek, Mobile Finance Manager™ is an easy-to-use software application that resides directly on the user’s SmartPhone enabled device, providing the ability to manage finances in real-time, anywhere there is cell phone service. Users can view multiple account balances simultaneously, access transaction histories, transfer funds between accounts, create graphic reports, pay bills, and receive secure e-mail messages and alerts from their financial institutions.

“As is the case with all the products we offer, members can expect a high level of security with Valley Mobile,” says James Fisher, VP of Information Technology at Valley Credit Union. “It’s a password protected service that contains multi-factor authentication consistent with FFIEC regulations in addition to measures that guard against spamming, spoofing, phishing, and cell phone scanning.”

To use Valley Mobile members will need three things: (1) a data service plan from their carrier, (2) the ability to download a software application, and (3) a compatible device, which includes cell phones with Windows Mobile, a Palm with Java virtual machine, or a Blackberry.
